2009 Scholarship Application
The League of Mexican American Women is accepting scholarship applications for the 2009-2010 academic year. Scholarships are available to eligible entering college freshman, continuing college students and re-entry college students who are working towards an Associate of Arts or Science Degree or Bachelors of Arts or Science Degree.
One of our objectives as a service organization is to raise scholarships funds to assist student of Mexican American heritage in furthering their education. Over the past 34 years our organization has awarded over $247,000 in funds to eligible students in Fresno County. Scholarship funds from our organization are available to eligible entering college freshman, continuing college students and re-entry college students working towards an Associate of Arts or Science Degree or Bachelors of Arts or Science Degree.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
1.Must be of Mexican American heritage.
2.Must have a 2.8 or higher overall grade point average, excluding physical education, ROTC, Driver’s Education, Cheer Leading and Office Assistance. (Official transcripts must be submitted with the application.)
3.Must be planning to enroll as a full-time (12-units or more) in an institution of higher learning or vocational training school.
4.Must be a resident of Fresno County.
Financial need will be considered in our selection of recipients; however, it is not solely a determining factor. Income verification is therefore, requested along with the scholarship application.Scholarship applications must be post-marked no later than March 20,2009. Recipients will be notified by telephone and by mail in early May. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
